Do you stare from your window intently?
Wondering if life can take you there?
Can turn you from the road of despair?
It makes you feel it so differently
When you realise (by mistake, incidentally)
That staring could be driving all that prayer
On bended knees at the foot of the stair.
That could lead you to death, consequently.
You know people think that they know their fate
But that couldn't be further from the truth.
They hope that change will change their ways and days.
Acceptance won't stop their inward debate
And they'll wish to relive their former youth.
You can't obscure Death's constant piercing gaze.
