Imran Khan
As flames fold to a white plague,
The wisps of bland smoke
Converse with the clean air
To besmirch honesty.
The curling petals of fire beckon
And hold transfixed observers
Like moths condemned.
And it is not a rage,
Not a scorching.
No, this is subtle and deft.
A gentle, gradual burn
That cascades through
Its kindling brush
In tingling orange strands
Like a masterplan.
But bring to it spirit!
Then watch it catch,
And bristle,
A great billowing escape
Of blossoming power
And method,
A salvo of purpose,
Determined to destroy
And rebirth the budding brave.
